Pre-Winter Service Offer 2025
Getting a pre-winter service can be important for preserving and maintaining your classic car because classic cars weren’t built with the same corrosion protection or modern materials that newer cars have. When temperatures drop and the air gets damp, moisture finds its way into every seam, joint and cavity, which can lead to rust starting to form. Salt on the road can accelerate this if it has been driven; however, even in storage, condensation can still cause damage over time. The cold months can also take a toll on a classic car in other ways, such as fluid thickening, seals and rubbers shrinking, electrical issues from moisture affecting old connectors, and wiring and batteries losing charge. A pre-winter service allows people to take preventive measures now and can save headaches later, whilst preserving the classic car’s condition and value. To help owners prepare, we are offering 10% off labour on all pre-winter servicing. These are some of the Jaguars currently in our workshop for a pre-winter service.
Because long periods of storage can lead to corrosion, fluid degradation or flat batteries. Additionally, old seals and materials don’t cope well with cold or moisture; therefore, it’s important to inspect and service key areas. This can include checking fluids and filters to ensure oil is replaced and checking the strength of the coolant to prevent freezing. Additionally, it’s important to inspect the brakes for corrosion on the discs, along with seized calipers and perished lines. It is also important to check the fuel system and for rust on the underside of the vehicle, and it’s beneficial to consider reapplying wax/oil protection. In addition, another key area to inspect is the tyres because tyre pressure drops in cold weather, which can cause cracking on older tyres.
When you are putting your classic car into winter storage, it’s beneficial to take preventive action by taking extra steps to ensure your beloved Jaguar remains in concours condition. This can include adding a fuel stabiliser and fresh fluids to help prevent petrol from going stale. Another option would be to place Sustain’s sustainable fuel in your tank, which has a lower ethanol level than modern fuel. Sustain has an octane number >98 and bio-ethanol content of <1%. SUSTAIN Classic has been technically tailored for classic vehicles, although it can be used on any vehicle which runs on standard forecourt petrol. An additional action you can take is to ensure your tyre pressure is at the correct standard to help prevent flat spots, and to use a battery conditioner, to help ensure your classic car starts first time when spring arrives. In addition, a car cover and good ventilation can help protect the bodywork and interior whilst in storage.
